What we believe

Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, was verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings, and is the supreme and final authority in faith and practice.

(Isaiah 40:8, Proverbs 30:5-6, II Timothy 3:15-17, John 10:35, II Peter 1:19-21)

God

There is one God, and only one, true and living God, infinite in every excellence; He is externally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1-2; Deut. 6:4; lsa. 7:14; 9:6; John 14:9; I Tim. 3:16; I John 5:7.)

Jesus Christ

We believe in the absolute Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His eternal existence as God; His incarnation by means of the virgin birth; His sinlessness; His vicarious death by the shedding of His blood as an atonement to redeem all who would believe on Him; His literal bodily resurrection from the dead; His ascension; His present high-priestly ministry in heaven for believers; and His personal, visible return to earth. (Jhn 1:1, 14, 18; Act 10:40-41; Heb 9:14; 1Jhn 2:1)

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal with the Father and the Son and of the same essence and nature; that He convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement, and bears witness to the truth; is the agent of the new birth; and that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses to, sanctifies and helps the believer, indwelling every true child of God.  (John 15:26; II Cor 13:14; John 14:16-17; Rom 8:14-27; I Cor 2:13.)

Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through the shed blood of Jesus Christ; that it is received individually by the repentant sinner who places his personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that all who receive Him are regenerated instantaneously by the Holy Spirit and become children of God. (Eph 2:8-9; Rom 6:23; Rom 8:35-39; Rom 10:9-13; Jhn 1:12; Jhn 5:24; Jhn 10:28-29.)

Creation, Man, Sin

We believe in the literal Genesis account of creation:

  • That man was created in the image of God
  • That he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
  • That all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach the age of moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, word and deed

(Genesis 1:26-27, 3:1-24, Romans 3:23, 5:12)

Priesthood of Believers

We believe that all believers have immediate access into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus; that we need no human agency to intercede before the throne of grace for us, and that Jesus Christ is our only mediator before God.

(Hebrews 10:19, I Peter 2:1-10, I Timothy 2:5)

The Local Church

We believe in the importance of the local church and that it is an assembly of born again baptised believers united in organisation to practice New Testament ordinances, to meet together for worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching and a united testimony; and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission. (Matt 16:18; Acts 13:1-3; 15:4; 16:5; 1 Cor 11:2).

Ordinances

We believe that the Scriptural ordinances of the church are baptism (immersion) and the Lord’s Supper.

  1. Baptism to be administrated to believers only (as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and as a picture of the identification of the believer with Christ in His death, burial resurrection) and
  2. The Lord's Supper to be partaken of only by baptised believers to show forth His death til He come.

(Matthew 3:16, Acts 8:26-39, Romans 6:3-5, I Corinthians 11:23-28)

Future Events

We believe in the personal, premillennial, pretribulational and imminent return of Jesus Christ when all the saved of this age of grace will be “gathered together unto Him”.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

(John 14:1-3, I Thessalonians 3:13, 4:13-18, Matthew 24:31-46, Revelation 20:1-15, I Corinthians 15:20-28, John 5:25-29)

The Devil

We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is a distinct and real personality, the god of this age, the adversary of Christ and all believers. He was created perfect, but sinned and became the arch enemy of God and His creation. He seeks to weaken the testimony of believers and the church. He is not omnipotent and can be overcome by the power of God; and that his destiny is eternal punishment in the lake of fire. (Job 1:6-9; Isa 14:12-14; 1Pe 5:8; 2Co 4:4; Rev 20:10)
